| Well, let me just say that this could be the push we all wanted for Tazz, but never expected at all! It started with a request from Vince McMahon's 50/50 business partner, Rick Flair, for any WWF superstar to come forward and challenge The Undertaker in a match that night on Smackdown. Right before Smackdown was going to a break, we all saw Tazz walk up to and confront Ric himself. He told Ric that it was nice to meet him and he heard that rumor had it that no one had the grapefruits, as Vince would say, to challenge the Undertaker. Ric confirmed the rumor and Tazz said "Well ya know what? I'm your guy, I'm your volunteer!" Ric told Tazz that it was "AWESOME!" and proceeded to "WHOOED" in Tazz's face. Tazz stood and looked at Ric, then "WHOOED" back in his face. Ric "WHOOED" back and Tazz "WHOOED" again. Then, Ric gave Tazz a super "WHOO!!!" and Tazz told Ric that he won, it was good to meet him, and thank you. Tazz entered with his towel and better pyro for his first WWF pre-main event ever! The new Undertaker entered the ring stared down Tazz, who was an obvious foot shorter than Taker. Taker pie faced Tazz to the mat and Tazz got back up and gave the Undertaker a beating in the corner. From this, it looked like it was going to be another short lived Tazz match. Lawler had made a good comment by this time. He quoted one of my favorite quotes which was "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." And for Tazz, this was very true. When Taker reversed Tazz's whip to the opposite turnbuckle, Tazz elbowed Taker in the head and continued to nail Taker with hard right hands. Tazz was holding his own until Taker stopped him with a boot. Taker missed the elbow and Tazz got up and went for a cover that got him a two count. He locked Taker in a front headlock and that's when Taker lifted Tazz up and set him on the top rope. Tazz fell into the ring and Taker choked Tazz with his hand. He set Tazz's head hanging out the ring and threw repeated elbows to the throat of "The One Man Crime Spree." Taker set Tazz up in the tree of woe from there and kicked him in the chest. When I watched the tape back, it looked like some footage was cut out of the match. Taker told the people that he was going for Old School, but then said that they didn't deserve to see it. Taker's new heel turn was persuading the fans not to like him, which means it was working well. Tazz snuck in a couple of right hands, but Taker quickly stopped Tazz in his tracks. Tazz's next offensive move would come when Taker finally went for the old school. Taker climbed the ropes, BUT TAZZ THREW TAKER OFF! Nobody has ever done that to the Undertaker before! While Taker slowly got up, Tazz ran over to lock on the Tazzmission. He took taker around the ring until they fell through the ropes, but Tazz still had the submission hold locked on. Taker was fading away, but Tazz finally released the hold when Taker threw Tazz into the padded guard rail. He picked up Tazz in a bear hug type position and rammed his back into the steel post. Taker rolled Tazz into the ring and went in after him. As a dazed Tazz stood up, Taker chokeslammed Tazz and cover him for the win. After the match Taker took the steel steps and threw it down onto Tazz's left shoulder. The question that remains is will this result in another shoulder injury and put Tazz out for awhile, or will this just boost Tazz's career like we all are hoping for. All I can say is stay tuned to The Tazzmissionist! |
