[Part 2 - Tazz Vs. JR?][Oct. 24, 2001]
As all hardcore WWF fans should know, Jim Ross aka Good Ol' JR is a huge
Oklahoma Sooners fan. What you most likely did not know is that our very
own Tazz is a big Nebraska Cornhuskers fan. This Saturday in Lincoln,
Nebraska, the "Battle of the Big Reds" will take place and is being called one
of college football's fiercest rivalries. Some might go as far as even saying
that this game is the "Game of the Century." On Tuesday before WWF
Smackdown! Tapings, WWF.com was able to speak with both Tazz and JR
about the situation. JR told WWF.com that "win, lose, or draw, I'll always be
a Sooners fan!" Then, with full intentions of mocking Tazz, JR said "Sooner
born, Sooner bred, and when I die I'll be Sooner dead. I'm pulling for my team
with all I've got." WWF.com turned to Tazz and began asking the man
wearing his Nebraska Cornhuskers T-shirt some questions. Before
WWF.com could say anything though, Tazz said "I hear that in the Federation, there's some sort of employee in a management position that's a
big OU fan. I'd like that person to know that the Sooners are gonna get their
asses kicked." WWF.com continued to talk with JR and JR had this to say:
"The only Nebraska fan I know here is Tazz. I don't understand that logic --
how a kid from Brooklyn could be a Nebraska fan. I haven't consulted with
him yet, but if he would be willing to wager something -- like maybe lunch or
dinner -- it could probably be arranged." Tazz's counter comments were "it
makes no sense" for him to be a Nebraska fan, seeing how Tazz grew up in
Red Hook, Brooklyn. His explaination was that ever since he was a kid
watching players like Mike Rozier, he's been hooked on that certain team. In
some closing words Tazz said "I wanted to play there, but they said I was too
short." Tazz laughed and told WWF.com to "Go figure." I'm not really big on
picking teams, except my own, so this Saturday I'll make an exception and
cheer on the Nebraska Cornhuskers as Tazz would. GO CORNHUSKERS!
